Hilarie: Make a date with Giants

Today’s young Adonis wouldn’t be seen picking up the newspaper from his doorstep with so much as a single hair peeking from his dressing gown.

Why there should have been this shift in fashion is unclear to me although I’m sure someone somewhere has written a thesis on it.

Public perception is a strange thing because what we think of as acceptable, desirable or ‘normal’ changes from decade to decade.

Only a few years ago, for example, we were ridding our homes of 70s wallpaper and furnishings and replacing them with dado borders and Victoriana. Now, anyone who is fortunate enough to find a 70s house with its original decor can live in fashionable vintage style.

And absolutely no-one wants those scalloped and ruched net curtains that made everyone’s bedroom (including mine) look like a tart’s boudoir.

Returning to the subject of the Giants and their calendar, if you’d like one they are £5 from The Giants’ Stadium Superstore or www.lauracranetrust.org/store with all proceeds to the charity.
