Wilf Lunn: Advice on spelling mistakes
Oct 3 2009 by John Avison, Huddersfield Daily Examiner
LAST Saturday I was walking round the market.
I had just bought three very old bottles of Ralph Cuthbert’s sal volatile when I got into conversation with a lady.
She said: “I read your bit in the paper and I do love your spelling mistakes.”
So that’s one happy reader. But what about the bits in between?
Then I remembered the wise remark of a youth at Almondbury Comprehensive.
His friend, looking at his essay, said: “You don’t spell it like that.”
To which he replied: “You do if you can’t spell.”
