March for the planet

CAMPAIGNERS calling for action on climate change went into Saturday’s march in Huddersfield knowing there has already been a huge move in attitude.

Gone are the days when there was a great deal of scepticism about the dire warnings over our planet’s future.

We have turned now to debate about matters of the policy we need to tackle it. And that must be regarded as a step in the right direction.

It is acknowledgement that we are nearing tipping point and need to take urgent action in implementing viable solutions to deal with the effects of climate change.

People on Saturday’s march said they were acting for their children and their children’s children.

Their hope was that they were sending a strong message to politicians.

There are certainly tough decisions to be taken in the future.
