Pigeon poser

THINKING that we can control pigeons might well be a flight of fancy.

Various methods have been tried in Huddersfield town centre over the years – including a “hotel” near the bus station where any eggs laid could be taken away and destroyed.

Still the problem persists.

The latest bright idea is for council staff to feed them twice daily at designated spots, the theory being that well-fed birds won’t produce as many eggs.

It remains to be seen whether that will prove to be true, but we sense that we’ll still be talking about possible solutions for years to come.

At least the proposed action beats the barbarism a mass cull.
