THE call for an inquiry into Kirklees Active Leisure is something which surely must be agreed by council bosses.
We have already stated our view that a bad smell was given off when senior officials accepted hospitality and gifts.
Putting that misdemeanour to one side for the moment, there is a pressing need to know if we are getting value-for-money from this set-up where council-owned sports centres are run by the organisation.
Publicity about the exact financial figures has hardly been forthcoming in the past and a little bit of transparency certainly would not come amiss.
