Rogue traders

MANY people are increasingly fed up with misleading, aggressive and unfair selling tactics, according to a survey in the Examiner today.

Pushy tactics, misleading leaflets and that familiar old chestnut – the prize draw ‘win’ – are in the list of grumbles.

The dubious methods are listed in a Department of Business summary ahead of new consumer protection regulations.

A new framework will be established banning 31 types of unfair sales practices and closing loopholes that some have been able to exploit.

But the big problem with rogue traders is that they do not take any notice of legislation.

The latest regulations may not improve that situation.
