WE make no bones over our pledge to name so-called bail bandits in the Examiner.
Defendants who abscond while on remand cause misery for victims and witnesses as well as wasting the time of the courts.
They must be made to realise that turning up at court is not optional. It is a serious obligation.
Even if their original offence is not the most serious it should be automatic that they are sent to prison just for not turning up for trial.
That would teach fugitives not to thumb their nose at the criminal justice system.
