POTHOLES in our roads are completely unacceptable.
Just ask the 127 drivers who made compensation claims to Kirklees Council last year. Or the 108 who asked for recompense in the year before.
Or the countless numbers who suffer the bad surfaces in silence.
Town hall chiefs must ensure the money is in place for a programme of preventive maintenance that will protect highways for many years to come.
They must never forget the importance of the road network not just in everyday life but also in attracting business and visitors.
