Fairer funding

PATIENT care and NHS jobs have been safeguarded after the £77m debts of the trust which runs Dewsbury District Hospital were written off.

The way is now clear for the hospital to plan for its future without a heavy burden around its neck.

But it will never be totally free of financial instability until the Government changes the way local health services are funded.

A fairer formula will mean better patient care and ensure that our hospitals can stay out of the red for good.
