Sick crime

NO right-minded reader can help but be sickened when a someone is raped.
It is a particularly nasty crime which leaves many victims devastated for a long time.
So it is welcome news today that West Yorkshire police have set up a specialist unit to investigate rape
A 36-strong team will work round the clock – an indication of the seriousness of the initiative.
It is a return to “common sense policing” and the only surprise about the decision by the police is that it has taken so long.
The unit will help victims deal with the after-effects of attacks by providing a direct link to health specialists.
This is a small yet significant step on the road to tackling some of society’s ills.
