Out of Africa

SCHOOLS with decent facilities are something people in England too often take for granted.
As a party from Holmfirth High School is finding out, the situation in some African countries could hardly be more different.
Students and staff are helping out at Masasa Community Day Secondary School in northern Malawi.
Their efforts – backed with money given by generous wellwishers – will help improve life just a little in one of the most impoverished nations on earth.
It’s also an experience the visitors from Holmfirth will cherish and never forget.
They will have lasting impressions that in the midst of so-called global prosperity there is great poverty, a huge divide between the haves and have nots.
Body and soul will have been nurtured.
