SOLICITOR Jayne Hart is not the first female to take to the field as a football referee.

But it is still a rare sight to see a woman in charge. And it is one that can still cause raised eyebrows.

Jayne is on the list of officials for West Yorkshire Association Football League matches (and good luck to her with all this rain).

She will make some good and some bad decisions. But there should be no problem that she is a woman.

The reality of life is that gender has absolutely no bearing on a person’s ability to become a football referee.
