JOHN Robins steps into one of the most difficult jobs there is as he takes over as new police commander for Kirklees.
They can throw all the statistics they want at us, but the plain fact is that the majority feel that crime is on the rise.
And they want something done about it.
Law and order remains one of the most critical issues of our day and one that continues to dog politicians in their attempts to convince us that it is being tackled in a proper manner.
Chief Supt Robins has pledged to continue the commitment to neighbourhood policing – a measure sure to be applauded by all right-thinking people.
Now it is time for the people of Huddersfield and its surrounding towns and villages to get behind him and his force.
