Leader: Cheer for Faye’s idea
Dec 5 2009 by Joanne Douglas, Huddersfield Daily Examiner
CHEERLEADING is something that has only recently taken off in this country.
So it’s great that Birchencliffe student Faye Hewitson is using the sport to tackle graduate unemployment.
The former Salendine Nook High School has set up a cheerleading business which aims to boost morale and build team spirit in offices.
She got a helping hand from her university unit Create, which aims to support students to pursue their dreams..
After pitching her business model to her university’s ‘Dragon’s Den’ team, she got a step onto the career ladder.
Now Faye will be taking her dancing skills into the boardroom and provide a series of fun workshops for those more comfortable with the boardroom.
Cheerleading is a great sport for girls, and boys, but Faye has proven that with a bit of ambition and help you can turn a hobby and a dream into career.
