Learn from this lesson

PARENTS have to hope the safety of their children at school is guaranteed, if only for peace of mind while they go out to work.
Which is why it is most concerning that a three-year-old girl was somehow able to get out of her Golcar school and begin to wander home without anyone at the school realising.
It was only when little Lisa Reid’s dad Matthew was going to pick her up and discovered his daughter on her own that the alarm was raised.
He says that when he returned with Lisa to Beech School staff didn’t even know she was missing. And that is what is worrying.
A three-year-old cannot know what the consequences could have been.
And while it has happened and the school cannot turn back the clock, they can be grateful no harm came to Lisa.
But they must now look at what went wrong, learn from it and make sure it never happens again to ensure the safety of all the children in their care each day.
