KIRKLEES Licensing Panel seems to have had little option but to close the Legends nightclub.

It is vital that public safety is the number one priority in all our pubs, bars and clubs.

There have been several crime incidents at Legends and the latest was an alleged armed robbery.

There are always two sides to every issue and the panel was, of course, due to hear from owner Dominic Pinnock.

He had been given the opportunity to comply with a series of reasonable conditions after Kirklees Council recently held an emergency licence review.

At the Panel, Mr Pinnock would have had the opportunity to talk about any improvements he had already made and discuss his plans for the club’s future.

But when he did not attend or provide any information that could influence the decision, the members had little choice but to revoke the licence on safety grounds.
