UNLESS you have a seriously ill child the proposed move to shut the Children’s Cardiac Centre at Leeds General Infirmary may have passed you by.

But imagine having to travel instead 120 miles for treatment at Newcastle where many of the young patients will be sent?

That is what this will mean with families cut off from their vital support lines of family and friends so far away from home at such a traumatic time in their lives.

Moves like this feel like a seriously regressive step and the claim that it is part of a “safe and sustainable’’ NHS review rings rather hollow.
