Make-up row at Shelley College

SCHOOLS seem to be getting tougher on discipline and the latest example of this is at Shelley College where pupils have accused staff of being too heavy handed over a make-up ban.

The pupils have been banned from using make-up and now mirrors have been removed to stop them applying it.

Staff are also removing make-up found on the youngsters.

There are two sides to the argument. The girls say they need a bit of make-up on to help their self-confidence yet the staff insist that rules must be followed.

It seems that some students flouted the rules that discreet make-up was allowed. No doubt parents will support this move towards tough discipline, but it’s a shame the college hadn’t been tougher with the rule-breakers rather than making everyone suffer.

If rules are flouted then those who break them should be dealt with which is why other pupils now feel the ban is unfair.
