IT’S becoming clearer week by week that the economic cuts are starting to bite hard.
The Talkthru charity based in Huddersfield town centre provides free baby equipment to needy families and has revealed the numbers it is helping has risen considerably.
It means parents are struggling to provide essentials – and most worryingly of all the charity is now starting to help people who have absolutely nothing at all.
Those who are helped are being referred to the charity by professionals such as midwives, health visitors and housing support workers.
They are on the frontline of health and social care and see for themselves the human toll that the recession, cutbacks, job losses and the asylum-seeking system are having in local homes.
Some people are staying in temporary accommodation and have to spend their days out of their lodgings on the streets.
Bringing up children can be a real struggle physically, mentally, emotionally and financially.
Some are less fortunate than others and desperately need help.
Huddersfield people have shown their generosity time and time again. We’re sure they will again for children who have little or nothing.
