HOLMFIRTH has become almost synonymous with the Tesco planning controversy in recent times.
So it’s good to reveal that a lot of work has been going on behind the scenes to look to the town’s long-term future.
Surveys have already been carried out by Holme Valley Vision to find out what people and businesses regard as the area’s future and the £9,282 grant from the Big Lottery Fund will complete this fact-finding. Let’s hope the organisers are overwhelmed by the ideas and some of them will no doubt be ‘thinking out of the box.’
Holmfirth wants to move on from its Summer Wine days and it can now draw up that blueprint for the future.
But then there’s the tricky issue of finding the funding to put the best ideas into action but if the community rallies round, no doubt these obstacles can be overcome.
