Not prepared for constant clean-up
Mar 10 2008 by Yvette Smith, Huddersfield Daily Examiner
SCOUTS and Scout Leaders are sick to death of having to give up their time to clean up everybody else’s mess.
We are disgusted at the amount of mess which is getting dumped in our area yet again and we’re also disgusted with people who are letting their dogs foul. It is ridiculous and is causing problems with having to cancel weekend activities just to clean it up.
It is about time it stopped and something was done to solve this problem. We are annoyed because people are taking rubbish out of the local BP garage bins across the road from the Scout hut and dumping it there. It is also coming from houses on Manchester Road whose occupants can’t be bothered to take all their junk to the tip. We have caught a few people letting dogs foul and told them it wasn’t the place to be doing it as it is private property so we told them to clear off.
People who have been letting their dogs foul on scout property have blurted out silly excuses such as: “The park is too muddy and I have only just bathed my dog” and “My dog is too old to be walking all the way up to the park”. These silly excuses made us laugh and we told them that it wasn’t the excuse that we needed because it is just a way to get them out of trouble.

Voted against treaty referendum
A SIGNIFICANT omission in the item “Tories fight on against Treaty” (Examiner March 6), is that it fails to mention that both Kali Mountford and Barry Sheerman voted against the holding of a referendum on the Lisbon Treaty.
