Don’t blame the circus

WHILE I do not favour the Chinese way of training small children to reach the standards their State Circus achieves I thought it fair to attend their recent show in Huddersfield to appreciate the performers’ hard work and to try and understand a different culture.

I was rewarded with a spectacular evening’s entertainment.

It is hardly fair of Kirklees Council to blame them for the rain after. As your article said: “They paid a large deposit to the council to move on to the land.”

Were Kirklees Council hoping for a dry April this year? Or hadn’t any of them the sense to realise what could happen? Perhaps they were so busy thinking about spending money to restore Greenhead Park to its former glory.

Better warn the council tax payers how many thousands of pounds it will cost to hire a few rollers and plant some grass seed and organise the Race for Life to stay on the pathways.

So how much did the Chinese State Circus pay Kirklees Council, I wonder?
