Too good to be true

THE idea of universal creative principles (“Creating drama in Mexico City” Examiner May 7) seems too good too be true. Variety in the world of art prevents the discovery of a key which will unlock universal appeal. In other words, even popular shows like Big Brother don’t win applause from every viewer.

But why travel to distant Mexico rather than France or Germany to test principles? Can we be sure the ideas will work among European sub-cultures which speak little English, even if they do achieve remarkable success in Mexico?

Thanks for the memories

WHAT a lovely surprise when I saw, in Memory Lane in the Examiner, Thursday May 8, a photograph of Miss Melissa Lumb in 1954 going on a trip to America. Miss Lumb was an old friend of my grandmother (they were bridesmaids) and I made an immediate phone call to my mum to tell her and we are sending the article to her twin sister in Nottingham.
