Litres more tax

DENIS KILCOMMONS claims (Diary May 9) that the Chancellor takes 66p from every gallon of fuel. The amount the Chancellor takes is actually 66p from every litre.

As there are 4.56 litres in every gallon that equates to a syphoning off of at least three pounds sterling from every gallon.

A gallon of diesel is now at least £5.24.
