Voting for a good laugh
May 24 2008 by Our Correspondent, Huddersfield Daily Examiner
WASN’T it Oscar Wilde who commented that “One must have a heart of stone to read the death of little Nell (The Old Curiosity Shop) without laughing.”
I feel pretty much the same about the Irish Referendum on the Lisbon Treaty.
Who could not fail to be moved to laughter if the wickedly corrupt, imperialistic and anti-democratic EU were to lose this one?
I shall not laugh if the Irish were then made to keep on voting until “they get it right” as was the case with The infamous Nice Treaty.
