Good news for Primrose Hill
Jul 11 2008 by Helen Roberts, Huddersfield Daily Examiner
REGARDING your story “Welcome news for bus passengers in Newsome area”, the Community Assistance Network Group has been pressing for improvements to the bus service in its area over the years, especially for people living in the Primrose Hill and Cross Lane area.
Despite an increase in the population due to the new housing complex nothing has happened.
How this will change after July 27 as First Bus company has informed us that a new service, the 307, will operate Monday to Saturday on a daytime, serving Cross Lane, Barcroft Road, Blagden Farm, Castle Avenue and Newsome Parish Church, returning via Lockwood Scar and Cross Lane, every 20 minutes. This is good news.
Since April, 2004, passengers at Cross Lane and Primrose Hill have had to rely on the Honley service, which often missed.
Having spoken to a number of people about this they are clearly delighted; no more long walks to Lockwood Scar or Newsome Road to catch a bus.
We were also contacted by bus passengers living in Newsome Road South and Taylor Hill and Mr Bob Broxholme, commercial service manager of First Bus, assures us that changes to the 312 and 315 service will provide a link from Newsome Road South to Newsome Parish Church.
