Let’s take pride in our young people’s valuable achievements!

IT was good to read about the students from Greenhead College who have travelled to Namibia to help build an orphanage and assist with after school activities (Examiner July 14).

Too often our young people seem to receive plenty of bad publicity due to the antics of a minority, and very rarely are the majority acknowledged for all the right reasons.

They are young, intelligent, and in the main ambitious, who are concerned about the world we live in and have the energy and desire to do something to make it a better place to live in.

The parents of the students who are now out in Africa must be proud of their sons’/daughters’ part in trying to improve the lot of the children who have so little.

I know that we are, as our grandson is one of them.
