THERE’S an art first in Birchencliffe this weekend.

Tonight (October 28) an art exhibition will be held in the community centre at St Philip’s, the first since a fire destroyed the previous parish hall four years ago.

The art exhibition and sale of work opens at the centre at 7pm tonight.

The event will open again tomorrow from 10.30am to 4.30pm and on Sunday from noon until 4.30pm.

Admission tomorrow and Sunday is £1.50.

The art work on show will include a variety of mediums and various subjects will be exhibited by artists from different art groups in the area.

There will also be work on show by individual artists and there will be a demonstration tomorrow by artist David Whiting.

Prizes will be awarded forŠBest Presentation – judged by David – and there will be a chance for visitors to vote for their favourite piece of work.

The exhibition is at the community centre in Briarlyn Road opposite the church.

Tickets for tonight’s opening event are £3.50 including a glass of wine.
