BRIGHOUSE may be far from the coast, but an art gallery is bringing the seaside spirit to the town tomorrow.

The Harrison Lord Gallery will open the new exhibition British Summer 2008 showcasing 15 artists.

Original paintings, ceramics, glassware and jewellery are in the show.

Landscape painter and author Paul Talbot-Greaves has chosen the Bradford Road gallery to introduce his new style of vibrant acrylic paintings.

Locally-born painter Neville Fleetwood, who achieved success at the Royal Society of British Artists, will feature in his first exhibition in his home town of Brighouse. a

He regularly exhibits his critically-acclaimed landscapes and still life pictures at top London galleries.

Other artists include Leslie Seeger, Glenis Fergus, Sally Darlington, Eddie Saul, Jenny Parkin, Sandra Hammer and Geoff T Wood.

Organisers reckon the mixture creates an exciting and eclectic show inspired by the theme of the British summer.

The exhibition will open on Saturday at 11am with a public performance by the award-winning Yorkshire Co-op Brass Band who have made numerous TV appearances and won countless awards.

Cllr Colin Stout, the Independent councillor for Brighouse, and former Mayor of Calderdale, will formally open the show.
