ONE is an artist, the other a gallery owner.

But their already considerable skills didn’t prevent artist Keith Mountain and Geoffrey Harrop, owner of Honley’s Lupton Square Gallery, trying their hands at the art of printmaking.

Geoff was so impressed with what he learned on a 10 week introduction to printmaking at the West Yorkshire Print Workshop in Mirfield that he is now busy organising an exhibition of the work produced on the course.

He plans to run the exhibition during Holmfirth Art Week which begins on July 5.

The WYPW runs a varied programme of courses in screen printing, textile printing, photo-etching and lino-cut for all skill ranges from beginners to professionals. All the course are taught by working artists.

Keith and Geoff were taught by artists Kathryn Desforges and Sammy Palfrey.

“It is a fantastic course with excellent tutors,” said Keith. “We were printing from day one and had the free time to develop our own styles.”
