There has been a performance of Handel’s famous Messiah at the Bullhouse Chapel in Millhouse Green near Penistone for 90 years – and this year will be no different.

On Sunday conductor Noel Clarke will take a mixed choir of volunteers through a rehearsal in the afternoon, to be followed by a full performance in the evening.

He’s still looking for singers who have Messiah experience to take part.

Noel, who is organist at Holmfirth Parish Church, has conducted previous performances of the choral work in the Holme Valley.

This year’s soloists at the beautiful Restoration period chapel will be: soprano Sarah Ogden, mezzo soprano Debra Ogden, tenor Christopher Pulleyn and baritone Thom Meredith.

Anyone who would like to join the choir should go along to the rehearsal at 2.30pm. The evening performance starts at 6pm and is free to all.
