Elland’s Rex Cinema has two Christmas treats in store over the next few days.

On Sunday (Dec 21) the venue is hosting a carol-singing choir and Yorkshire organist Ryan Edwards.

Although only in his twenties, Ryan is a veteran of more than 500 concerts throughout Britain and has made several recordings.

Appearing for a cameo spot is James Kenny, from nearby Ripponden, a former pupil of Rishworth School and now a student at York University. He has made several appearances at the Rex.

Joining them for the 2.30pm concert will be the Choir of Elland Southgate Methodist Church with organist Ray Wilkinson. Tickets are £5.

On the morning of Christmas Eve, the cinema is showing the festive movie It’s A Wonderful Life.

A classic from 1946, it stars James Stewart. Free mince pies will be served to those who arrive early for the 10.30am showing.
