From beginners to professionals, The Artworks independent art and design school in Halifax is mounting an exhibition of all those who have been through the its doors in the past few years.

The Artworks Community Show, which opens on Sunday, will feature drawings, paintings, sculpture, ceramics, textile art and more.

One of the school’s founders, Huddersfield artist John Ross, says the organisation has maintained an ethos of being accessible to all and has students from all walks of life and all age groups.

Artworks opened as a school of drawing in 2008 and has since acquired a dedicated art exhibition space, the 1830 Gallery, as well as artists’ studios.

The show can be seen until Saturday, December 20, at the school, which is based in the former textile mill on Shaw Lane (opposite The Shay stadium).
