Comedy at the LBT in February offers an acerbic antidote to romance ahead of Valentine’s Day.

This month’s show in the Comedy Cellar on Thursday, February 12 at 8pm features a rescheduled appearance from Shazia Mirza who was originally due in January. She will be supported by Andrew McBurney.

Shazia had to cancel her appearance at the Comedy Cellar on Thursday, January 15 at short notice due to unforeseen circumstances. She was replaced by Archie Kelly, best known as Kenny Senior in Channel 4’s Phoenix Nights and Max and Paddy’s Road To Nowhere, whose appearance at the LBT came a fortnight before he takes the stage in the Phoenix Nights Live show for 15 nights at Manchester Arena.

Globe-trotting gagster Shazia has become a recognisable face on TV since giving up a career as a science teacher to make people laugh for a living.

Often referencing her strict Muslim upbringing and experiences with the hijab, the laconic Brummie is a regular panellist on Channel 5’s The Wright Stuff, has appearedon Have I Got News For You and Last Comic Standing and has written for New Statesman and The Guardian. Shazia had to cancel her appearance at January’s Comedy Cellar at short notice.Andrew’s character-based act recently won him the Breaking Talent Award at the Birmingham Comedy Festival. His alternative comedy style originates in sketches he created with friends and has grown to include a cast of oddball characters, including Bernie Mac-inspired African American comedian Mac Bernie.

Tickets are priced at £9 (concessions £7).
