Marsh Ladies Choir teamed up with Clifton Handbell Ringers to provide some Christmas cheer.

The choir was conducted by Ian Abbott, who also played the organ for the three congregational carols and accompanied Kim Kaye at  Brighouse Central Methodist Church.

The Ringers were conducted by David Sunderland.

The evening’s compère was Raymond Ellis who kept everyone amused with his hilarious jokes!

The choir welcomed the audience with a rousing Joy to the World, arranged by Alan Simmons, and ended with the UK’s newly voted  top carol O Holy Night by Adolphe Adam.  They sang a selection of carols and Christmas music old and new including  the traditional Sans Day Carol, John Rutter’s Shepherds Pipe and Donkey Carols and the well-loved Thou Must Leave Thy Lowly Dwelling by Berlioz.

They also sang Joyful Joyful from Sister Act 2 with soloists Jo Hamer and Diane Armer.

The ladies also sang a piece new to the choir, Carol of the  Bells, a Ukrainian  New Year carol by Leontovich and Wilhousky which has been much aired on TV this Christmas!

The Clifton Handbell Ringers again performed with great accomplishment and as diverse as the theme from Ski Sunday, Pop goes Bach, Walking in the Air, Troika, Memory from Cats and ending with a Christmas Teddy  Bears’ Picnic.

They were given a standing ovation by a most enthusiastic audience.
