Calderdale playwright Alan Stockdill’s new dramas Godfrey’s Last Stand and Give a Little Love have enjoyed a successful summer touring small theatres in the North.

Both one-act plays can be seen once more, on Wednesday, September 17, as part of the Brighouse Arts Festival and will raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Godfrey’s Last Stand tells the simple story of a Yorkshire amateur cricket umpire who dreams of umpiring an international match – a feat that becomes possible when he scoops a lottery win. Give a Little Love is one for the Bay City Roller generation and explores teenage angst against the backdrop of a tribute concert.

Alan’s company, Talking Stock Productions, won a raft of awards for the plays this summer at the theatre festival in Glossop.

They can be seen at the Salvation Army Citadel in Brighouse from 7.15pm. Tickets are £10 from www.brighousefestival.co.uk
