It's a Saturday theatre treat which offers a perfect outing for Huddersfield families.

Babbling Vagabonds plays the Lawrence Batley Theatre on March 22 with its enchanting story of The Brothers Grimm.

This Bakewell-based group of artists uses storytelling, shadow play, puppets and pop-ups to tell tantalising tales.

The next is about two brothers who seek shelter from a raging storm.

They have travelled the world collecting stories and in their suitcase is a whole range of curiosities.

Once the case is open, out tumble chaos, mayhem, and magic.

Rich tales as dark as the night, wild as the winds and as rich as rubies.

Stories to dance up your spine, steal your breath and whisper magic in your ears.

And these are master storytellers just waiting to share their tales.

The show is part of the LBT’s popular Imagine series which offers regular Saturday events aimed at introducing children and their families to live theatre and other art forms.

There will be two shows on March 22. The first at 11am in the LBT’s Cellar space with a repeat performance at 2pm.

Babbling Vagabonds was founded in 1999 by director Phil Coggins and designer Mark Hornsey.

They took their inspiration from folk tales, transforming them in exciting new theatre performances.

Watch in wonder as words magically come to life.

Tickets from the box office on 01484 430528 or go online at www.thelbt.org where you can also check out further events in the Imagine series.

Still to come are Northern Ballet with Three Little Pigs, its latest ballet created specially for children and an event called Cello Babies.

Ugly Duckling was a sell-out success for Northern Ballet when it first brought ballet aimed at introducing young children to the magic of live ballet, music and theatre.

This new show is on April 17 and re-tells one of the best known of children’s stories.

Cello Babies, on May 17, offers a chance for small children to commuunicate, explore and create within the world of sound.

This is a live performance led by Ruthie Boycott-Garner and looks at a how we tune into the world even before we are born.
