The new film season at the Lawrence Batley Theatre will see screenings of award-winning movies such as the sci-fi epic ‘Gravity’, ‘Mandela-Long Walk to Freedom’ and the true story ‘Philomena’.

All the films being shown between now and July have been critically acclaimed and most star Oscar-winning actors and actresses. Some have been nominated for BAFTAS and Golden Globes or British Independent Film Awards.

Next up, on May 22, will be ‘Blue Jasmine’, starring Cate Blanchett in the Woody Allen-directed story of relationships and changing lives.

Then on May 29, the season continues with ‘The Selfish Giant’, a film presented in association with Holmfirth Film Festival and set in Bradford.

A contemporary fable about two teenage working-class friends, the movie is a gritty and tragic tale.

Later in the season film-goers can expect to see ‘Inside Llewyn Davis’, featuring Justin Timberlake, and ‘Enough Said’, a rom-com with Julia Louise-Dreyfus.

All tickets for the LBT film season showings are £6. Book ahead from the box office, 01484 430528 or www.thelbt.org , at £15 for three films.
