The 15th annual open air charity concert in Salendine Nook next month will take place during the Yorkshire leg of the Tour de France, which is why just for this year it is ‘Le Concert on the Hill’.

Featuring the same successful line-up of local musicians as last year, the event on Saturday, July 5, aims to raise funds for both the organisers – Huddersfield YMCA Rugby Club – and the Hollybank Trust. It is sponsored by the Kingsgate shopping centre.

Taking part will be Lindley Band, the Colne Valley and Honley Male Voice Choirs, Lindley Junior School Choir, and soloist Julia Garbutt.

A spectacular firework finale is planned.

Organiser David Roebuck says: “Last year 1,500 people turned out and the weather was the best we have ever had. We’re hoping for the same this year.”

Over the years the concert has raised a total of £25,000 for charities.

Gates for the event open at 5pm and the concert is scheduled to start at 7pm. Tickets are £10 in advance from Kirklees information centres and the YMCA club house, or £12 on the night.
