To mark the centenary of the birth of poet Dylan Thomas the Lawrence Batley Theatre is screening the classic 1972 film version of his play for voices Under Milk Wood and offering the audience a chance to meet the director Andrew Sinclair.

The film stars two of the 20th century’s most famous actors, the star-crossed lovers Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor, as well as the equally renowned Peter O’Toole.

Under Milk Wood, set in the sleepy Welsh town of Llareggub, has a cast of deliciously eccentric characters, whose thoughts and inner dreams are captured in verse. Originally written for radio in 1954, the play opens at night when the citizens of the fishing community are asleep.

The screening is at 7.30pm on Thursday, November 13. Tickets are £6 and include a question and answer ‘Behind the Scenes’ session with Sinclair, who is also a respected biographer, novelist and historian.
