Motown reaches out with new tour

Celebrating 50th anniversary of iconic Motown singles, a new tour brings the sound to Yorkshire

Magic of Motown, 2014 Reach Out tour

The Motown sound, celebrating the 50th anniversary of many of its iconic hits, has lost none of its appeal.

Reviving 36 chart-toppers from the Motown label, The Magic of Motown’s 2014 touring show Reach Out will have audiences dancing in the aisles as well as the street when it comes to the Theatre Royal, Wakefield, on June 5.

Direct from the USA, the show features classic hits from the Temptations, Four Tops, Jackson 5, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Lionel Richie and The Supremes, all performed with Motown pizzazz, slick dance moves and glittering costumes.

In 1964 Motown crossed the Atlantic to become a musical phenomenon in the UK.

It was the year the singles charts here were peppered with songs such as Dancing in the Street, My Girl, Where Did Our Love Go?, My Guy and Baby Love. Motown became a musical sensation that continues to attract loyal devotees today.

The Magic of Motown show, now in its tenth year and with an all-new production, re-captures the golden days of the popular music and is taking it on a 100-date tour.

Tickets for the Wakefield show are from £18.
