Any budding Buddy Hollys, aspiring ABBA sound-a-likes or wannabe Wordsworths will be able to showcase their talents at the Lawrence Batley Theatre’s two open-mic events in the Courtyard space this summer.

The first, Performance Picnic: Words, tomorrow, is for purveyors of the spoken word or poetry; while the second, Performance Picnic: Music, on Saturday, August 9, is for musicians and singers.

Both free events, which will take place from noon until 2pm, offer the opportunity to gain live performance experience in front of an audience. Anyone interested in taking part should contact lee@thelbt.org.

Courtyard events continue on Saturday, July 26, with a circus full of crazy characters. Go along and meet them between 11am and 4pm. The afternoon will include a performance by the LBT’s Young Company.

Two further outdoor performances are planned – with Peter Pan and the Lost Boys on Sunday, August 3, at 7pm, and Pride and Prejudice on Sunday, August 10, at 7pm. These performances are ticketed, from £6.
