There's no shortage of cultural activities, including an arts trail for all the family in nearby Saltaire.
For music fans there's a ukulele festival in Huddersfield and, if you fancy trying something new, how about a free introduction to French bowls, also known as petanque?
If it rains, there are plenty of indoor events - most of them free - at museums across West Yorkshire.
Friday May 27
Warrior Treasures: Saxon gold from the Staffordshire Hoard. At the Royal Armouries, Leeds, from 10am. Runs until October 2. A special exhibition featuring around 100 spectacular items. Some of the objects have never been on show before. Free.
Nature Tots from 10.30am at Yorkshire Wildlife Trust's Stirley Farm, Stirley Hill, near Castle Hill, HD4 6TU. Advance booking is essential. Event aimed at pre-school children. Donation of £3 per child (member) or £5 (non-member).
Saturday May 28.
Greenhead Park fair. Last year's beach-themed funfair returns for the Spring Bank half-term holiday. There is a charge for entry to the site for a four-hour session, inclusive of all rides. 1pm to 8pm. Runs until Sunday June 5. Kirkheaton's 10th Arts Festival is running alongside the historic Yetton Rant fair. Arts event takes place over the Bank Holiday weekend from 2pm to 5pm. Hosted by Kirkheaton Church. Free entry.
Get Animated! Familiy activities inspired by animation, at the National Media Museum, Bradford. Entry to the museum is free. Runs all week.
Saxon Style. Crafts and activities from 10am to 5pm at the Royal Armouries, Leeds. Includes re-enactments on Sunday 29 and Monday 30 May.
Back in Time at Eureka! Museum, Halifax. Meet people who shaped history, from Florence Nightingale to the Vikings. Admission charge.

Slung Low at The Knowledge Emporium. City Park, Bradford city centre. Free sweets in a converted caravan for those who who can 'trade' a fact or anecdote. From 10am to 5pm. All ages. Free. Part of the Bradford Literature Festival.
