SINGERS, dancers, musicians and even a touch of magic.

It all adds up to a wow of a show which it is hoped will boost funds for the campaign to build a children’s hospice and respite centre in Huddersfield.

Children 4 Children is what it says it is. A concert staged by talented young performers to support other young people who may need the help and care of a hospice such as the one planned by the West Yorkshire Forget-Me-Not Trust.

The concert will run over two nights at Honley’s Southgate Theatre on December 5 and 6.

Norman Mellor, chairman of Honley Male Voice Choir and an accomplished bass/baritone soloist, will compere the two shows which has been organised by the Trust’s Friends’ Support Group.

The group, which over the last four years has raised more than £60,000 for the campaign, has pulled together an army of young performers all keen to help.

True Colours, the gospel choir based at Huddersfield’s Hudawi Centre, will sing on both nights. Foxwood, a steel band from Leeds, joins them on Friday night with the 40 strong choir from All Saints School will take the band’s slot on Saturday.

Young saxophone player Cameron Woodhead, who is 13 and goes to Honley High School, will be showing off his dazzling musical skills, and there will be a trio of musicians put together by another youngster, Aidan Addy.

The fancy footwork will be provided by dancers from a school based at Armitage Bridge and on Saturday, youngsters from Bernadette Heys’ dance school in Marsden will be on the bill.

And if all of that doesn’t provide enough magic, Magic Circle’s Michael Jordan will conjure up the sort of tricks to amuse and amaze.

Veronica Moran, an experienced actress and director who has worked with Huddersfield Thespians and with Honley Players whose home is at Southgate Theatre, has directed the show.

Tickets are £5 for adults and £2.50 for children. You can get them from Friends’ members Noreen Rochford on 01484 341189 or Margaret Baxter on 01484 307280. The fun starts at 7pm.
