IT IS a story many know as a fiction classic and now devotees of Laurie Lee’s Cider With Rosie can see this much-loved story on stage.

Alistair Cheetham, who has appeared with Huddersfield Thespians and directed the company’s much applauded production of The Graduate, directs this fiction classic for Halifax Thespians.

Performances at Halifax Playhouse run each evening at7.30pm until Saturday, when there is also a matinee at 2.30pm.

The cast includes Veronica Moran, well known in the Huddersfield area both as actor and director. Luke Garbutt makes his acting debut in the show.

Cider With Rosie, adapted for the stage by James Roose-Evans, is set in the summer of 1918 and sees Laurie Lee, at the end of the war, moving to a new home in the Cotswolds and a life governed by the seasons – until the peace is shattered by the warring grannies Wallon and Trill.
