Colne Valley Boys have already had a busy start to the Christmas period and another show is beckoning.

The boys and musical director Thom Meredith presented a Christmas Festival at St James’ Church, Slaithwaite, last Saturday.the 30th November 2013.

Their guests were Colne Valley Singers led by conductor Peter Simons, a true community choir made up of whole families of children, parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles. The choir was formed last October and are part of the Colne Valley Music Centre based at Colne Valley High School. Rehearsals are on Friday evenings at the school.

Colne Valley Boys was established in March 2010 to serve the children and young people of the Colne Valley and surrounding area. The choir has just over 30 members aged between eight and 16. Its aim is to promote male voice singing, provide entertainment to the local community and form lasting friendships between its members.

The boys have recently entertained the residents of Meadow Court Residential home in Slaithwaite.

The boys will also be on stage at Huddersfield Town Hall on Sunday, December 15 with Colne Valley Male Voice Choir and Brighouse and Rastrick Band.

The group are always looking for new members.

There is no audition to join. The only requirement is that you enjoy singing. The aim of the group is to encourage boys to sing and they perform music in a wide range of musical styles including folk, music theatre, classical, pop repertoire and world music with the emphasis firmly on having fun.
