She has appeared on Broadway and in London’s West End.

She is a TV regular and last year joined the sequined set on Strictly Come Dancing.

Now Denise van Outen  brings all that experience to West Yorkshire Playhouse where she will open a new musical later this month.

It’s quite a step even for someone with the cv of Denise.

For in this one-woman show, she is not only starring but is co-writer alongside Terry Ronald.

On top of all of that, the show will play Leeds for five weeks before heading out on a 10 date national tour of the UK.

That’s some New Year for Denise.

The show is called, Some Girl I Used To Know and opens at the Playhouse on January 30 running until February 8.

The director is Michael Howcroft and the music is supervised by Steve Anderson, Kylie Minogue’s long-term musical collaborator.

Denise’s Broadway and West End performances include Tell Me on A Sunday, Chicago, Rent: Remixed and Legally Blonde, and her television roles include Mary in Hotel Babylon, Michaela in The Empress’ New Clothes, Leigh Jackson in two series of Babes in the Wood and Kim Blakeney in two series of Where the Heart Is.

She currently presents her own Saturday lunchtime show on Magic 105.4.

This latest venture centres on the character Stephanie Canworth, a woman who appears to have it all.

A successful career, a supportive husband and she’s a media darling. But it takes just one entry on Facebook delivering a  blast-from-the-past to re-ignite old memories. And we know how dangerous they an be.
