Daffodils, fluffy chicks, yummy chocolate eggs, the long Bank Holiday weekend — there's plenty of reasons to look forward to Easter.

This year the Easter weekend falls from Friday April 3 to Monday April 6, and most people can enjoy not one but two days off work thanks to the Bank Holidays.

The holiday is considered the most important in the Christian calendar, as it celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The dates of the Easter weekend change every year, but Easter Sunday always falls between March 22 and April 25, within around seven days of the astronomical full moon.

The Easter weekend usually falls at the start or in the middle of the two-week Easter holidays — this year schools break up on Thursday April 2 (as Good Friday is a Bank Holiday) and return on Monday April 20.

If children have been good they might get a visit from the Easter Bunny!

There's also egg hunts, Easter fairs and (hopefully) the warmer Spring weather to look forward to.

So pop the dates in your diary — Easter is just around the corner!
