Catch the Easter Eggspress steam train at Kirklees Light Railway to meet the Easter Bunny in Shelley. Take part in the egg hunt in the playground, receive a chocolate egg and see if you can find a special Golden Egg and win a prize! There will also be egg and spoon races, a children's entertainer, bouncy castles, donkey rides and more. Easter crafts at Kershaw’s Garden Centre, Brighouse

The garden centre is hosting two weeks of art and craft activities for children, including an Easter weekend of themed workshops. On Friday, Saturday and Monday, March 25, 26 and 28, from 10am until 4pm, there are special Easter activities

Easter Egg Hunt at Oakwell Hall

Oakwell Hall

Pick up a form from the Countryside Centre and look for the clues hidden around the play area. Correct entries win a mini egg and a 2 for 1 voucher for entry into Oakwell Hall. The Countryside Centre is closed on Good Friday, but open noon-5pm Easter Saturday-Easter Monday.

Go see Morph at The Civic, Barnsley

This is the last chance for children to see the interactive exhibition AniMotion, which features the lovable character Morph. For those who break up from school early, the theatre is hosting animation workshops for children aged 7 to 13 on Tuesday and Wednesday, March 22 and 23. For £5 youngsters can learn to make their own animated film. For details visit www.barnsleycivic.co.uk The theatre also has an Easter treat in store with Huddersfield-based Proper Job Theatre’s version of Grimm’s fairy tales in Grimm’s Faerie Feast on March 23 and 24. Find the Easter chicks hidden around Red House to win a mini egg. Red House Museum is closed on Good Friday and Easter Monday but open Saturday and Easter Sunday noon-5pm.

Easter Fair at The Artworks, Shaw Lodge Mill, Halifax

During the Easter Fair hosted by the art school, gallery and studios, there will be free children’s art workshops, offering parents the chance to browse the art and crafts on display by local makers while youngsters make their own, 11am-3pm. Easter Feastival Foodie Market at Yummy Yorkshire

The Yummy Yorkshire barn at Delph House Farm will welcome the Made and Found Market on Easter Saturday-Easter Monday, 9am-5pm. There will be food and craft stalls ,with handmade chocolates, fine cheese, artisan breads, local preserves and more on offer, as well as live music and a bar. Children can also take part in free cupcake decorating and a baking competition!

Holmfirth Easter Egg Hunt

Head to Holmfirth Library on Easter Saturday, 10am-2pm then follow the trail around the village! Pop into Holmfirth shops ti find the answers — all entries receive a prize and the overall winner will win a huge Easter basket. Entries cost £1, money raised goes towards the new hall for Hade Edge School.

Gift fair at the Butchers Arms, Hepworth

Pop along to the Butchers Arms on Easter Saturday and help raise money for Kirkwood Hospice. There will be an egg hunt, prize for the best Easter bonnet, gift stalls, face painting and more, 1pm-5pm.

Easter crafts at the Tolson Museum, Huddersfield

The museum is providing craft packs for £1.50 that can either be used at the museum or taken home, as part of an Easter weekend of activities, noon-5pm.

Bagshaw Bunny's Egg Hunt

Follow clues around Bagshaw Museum and Wilton Park, solve the puzzle and win some tiny chocolate eggs, then decorate an egg box to put them in. Bagshaw Museum is closed on Good Friday but open Saturday-Easter Monday noon-5pm.

Open day at Long Ing Farm

Welcome Spring with a visit to Long Ing Farm in Long in Road, Hade Edge, Holmfirth, 12.30pm-4pm. There will be lambs, piglets, horses, chickens, a bee apiary, tractors and a treasure hunt.
