Hundreds of animals will enjoy a grand day out at Emley Show.

Creatures great and small will be judged in classes at the popular event on August 6, by a crack team of seasoned experts.

These are the animals you will be able to see:

Caged birds

Not the first creatures you’d expect to find in a field. Expect to see varieties of canaries, budgerigars and parrot like birds.

Cattle

Judging will begin at 10.30am. Don’t miss the grand parade and trophy presentation at 4pm in the main ring. Jerseys, highlanders and pedigrees beef cattle will be amongst those in the competition. Young and seasoned handlers will also be judged, while the most unusual category has to go to “best udder in show.”

Fun dog show

The Fox hounds are prepared for their turn in the main arena at Emley Show 2015

Does your dog have catwalk potential? It costs £2 per morning and afternoon class to enter your pooch. Categories include obedience, cutest puppy, waggiest tail and best biscuit catcher. The day will be rounded off with a free young handlers workshop and the winner from each class will be entered for the HSBC Best in Show Trophy.

Goats

Exotic sounding breeds from Saanens to Toggenburgs will join alpine, Guernsey and Anglo Nubians. The winners will join the grand parade at 4pm.

Hamsters

The popular children’s pet will get its own turn in the limelight this year. Go have a look at the Syrian, Chinese and other breeds on display.

Horses

One of the competitors in the show jumping arena at Emley Show 2015

Horse lovers will be in their element thanks to the long list of horse categories on offer. Amongst those to be judged will be mountain and moorland breeds, shire donkeys and show ponies and horses. Show jumping is also due to go ahead, weather permitting.

Pigeons

Catch a glimpse of these messenger birds, which are a lot more varied than you may first think. Some are referred to as owls, but don’t be confused, these are just fancier cousins of the ones you find on the street.

Poultry and eggs class

Hens, noisy cockerels and eggs will be put under the judges’ spotlight. Look out for the “unusual shaped egg” bantams and duck sections.

Rabbits

Lops, fancy breeds and rex types will all be in the contest, with special prizes going to the best grand challenger and best in show.

Sheep

Sheep being judged in one of the classes at Emley Show 2015

Rams, ewes and lambs all expected in this class, including rare breeds. The winners will join the grand parade at 4pm.
